HOTMA is Coming!

What is HOTMA?

The Housing Opportunity Through Modernization Act of 2016 (HOTMA) is a significant piece of legislation aimed at improving and modernizing federal housing assistance programs. Key aspects of HOTMA include:

  • Streamlining Administrative Processes: HOTMA simplifies the procedures for applying and qualifying for housing assistance, reducing bureaucratic delays and improving efficiency.
  • Enhancing Housing Choice Voucher Programs: The Act expands flexibility for families using housing choice vouchers, allowing for a wider range of housing options and promoting mobility to better neighborhoods.
  • Improving Public Housing Income Reviews: HOTMA adjusts income review processes to ensure accuracy and fairness in determining eligibility and rent calculations.
  • Modernizing Inspection Protocols: The Act updates the inspection requirements for housing units, ensuring safe and habitable living conditions while reducing administrative burdens.
Our Path to Compliance

Our software provider is diligently working on updating our software and systems to meet HOTMA requirements. This upgrade is essential for ensuring that we continue to provide high-quality, efficient, and fair housing services. We expect to complete this transition by January 1, 2025, at which point we will be fully compliant with HOTMA standards.
